MEDICAL INSURANCE

All students attending VMEI are required to have medical insurance coverage. 

For your first three months in Canada your only choice is to purchase private medical insurance. 

If you are planning on staying over six months and have a student visa you may qualify for the B.C. Medical Services Plan (government medical insurance); this insurance coverage will start three months after arrival.

The province of British Columbia requires that all residents, including international students, be enrolled in the British Columbia Medical Services Plan. The single person rate is CAN$54 per month (subject to change).

If you did not obtain a medical insurance plan from your own country before coming to Canada, we can help you obtain private medical insurance. It will probably cost about $50 per month.
